My client is a well-respected, divisional business of part of a leading European based international PLC with a group turnover in excess of £5b.

Due to continued expansion within the UK & International Market, FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a Qualified Accountant to join the business as Divisional Financial Controller / UK Managing Director

This position is being recruited with a dual focus in mind with candidates taking a lead role within finance for the division both with the UK and Internationally but also to operate as the Site Lead (General Manager / MD) for the UK Business Unit.
The successful candidate will be based from the UK / East Midlands Office (with Hybrid working) however the position does require some international travel for meetings with other divisional business units and updates with the Divisional CFO based in Europe.
Overview
The successful candidate will be is responsible for managing the Finance & Admin functions of a portfolio of business entities by consulting, training, updating, giving guidance & supporting the local finance managers on divisional & Group standards, frameworks and processes. You will set and maintains standards, drives process improvements, analyses the financial health of the assigned entity portfolio from an elevated perspective and acts as a business partner for Group, executive & operational teams.
Finance Duties
• Guiding, developing and retaining strong finance & administration teams
• Building knowledge, update, train & consult FMs and their teams on Group reporting requirements (IFRS etc.), policies, processes, standards, etc.
• Supporting & reviewing month-end & year-end financial reporting
• Supporting financial managers on questions arising from audits / (external) reviews
• Supporting and reviewing the budgeting & forecasting
• Substituting the finance managers where needed
• Driving improvements and efficiencies and raising financial awareness across the business
• Performing project work to build business and improve / streamline systems, processes and controls
• Building and maintaining specialist knowledge in defined areas (e.g. ERP system, transfer pricing, etc.)
General Management Duties
• Overall site responsibility covering 30 employees
• Responsible for Health and Safety
• Responsible for all employee related tasks in close collaboration with the global People function
The ideal candidate will be formally qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) and ideally have at least 5 years PQE gained operating within a Finance Leadership position, broader experience of covering wider business / operational / commercial management is also highly desirable due to the dual focus of this position.
Experience of delivering or participating ERP System migration projects is also highly desirable.
Experience gained within A Big 4 / Top 10 Firm is desirable to bring confidence to a candidates technical accounting abilities however this is not essential.
